If you have walked or drove by 957 Broadway, the 10-story Bay One building on the corner of 46th Street, you have probably noticed construction work going on. The work, which has been going on for over a year, is in preparation of a restaurant in the works by the Altesi Restaurant Group, Paolo Alavian, one of the owners confirmed to Bayonne Buzz. While details are still emerging, we do know that the Altesi Restaurant Group owns two upscale Italian NYC restaurants in Altesi, located on E 64th Street on the Upper East Side and Altesi Downtown, located on Spring Street in SoHo.
Both Altesi establishments are highly regarded and have been featured in the likes of the New York Times, Gothamist, and Time Out. Each location has a full bar and focuses on traditional Italian fare with seasonal and locally sourced ingredients, although the menus do differ from each other. Finally, both are open for lunch and dinner, with the downtown location also serving brunch on weekends. While these details may give us clues, no word yet on what the Bayonne concept will be.
Full length curtains currently block views of the interior progress being made, although catching a glimpse when the construction team is working reveals interiors that appear to be approaching their finished state. No opening date has been announced.
We look forward to the restaurant opening and will give an update once it does.
