Fall in a Cup: Six Local Cafés Serving up Autumn-Inspired Coffee Creations

Fall is practically here and that means its time for Autumn inspired coffee drinks. Who doesn’t love the familiar fresh coffee smell mixing with a hearty but sweet aroma? Then once you take that first sip, a touch of spices gives your mouth a punch of warmth no matter how cold your drink is or how cold the weather is starting to feel. In anticipation of colder weather and seasonal crafted java creations, we visited six local cafés to let you know what Autumn-inspired drinks are on the menu.

Bake N’ Brew Café

Location: 164B Broadway, Bayonne

Hours: M-Sat: 7 AM – 7 PM; Sun: 7 AM to 6 PM

What’s on the Menu? Pumpkin Spice and Chocolate Pumpkin Spice Blended Cappuccinos

This cozy little café offers all the familiar espresso-based drinks one would expect in addition to an impressive food and pastry menu. The coffee shop offers a traditional pumpkin spice as it featured fall flavor and can turn any of one’s favorite drinks into a pumpkin spice version. We went with the chocolate pumpkin blended cappuccino. The drink combines espresso, milk, ice, velvety dark chocolate syrup, and pumpkin spice all blended into a frozen concoction

Café 26

Location: 590 Avenue C, Bayonne

Hours: Sun-W: 8 AM – 4 PM; Th-Sat: 8 AM to 8 PM

What’s on the Menu? Pumpkin Spice Latte, Toasted Almond Mocha, Apple Pie Latte, and Cold Brew topped with Pumpkin Spice Cold Foam

Café 26 is the newest café on this list, opening its doors in March of this year. In addition to refined coffee, the café offers an assortment of sandwiches, pastries, and avocado toast in an inviting, modern setting. The café has an several fall-inspired coffee drinks this year making it hard to choose just one. We ended up choosing the Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte. The drink came ice cold, topped with whip cream and a graham cracker crumble.

Empanadas Café

Location: 640 Broadway, Bayonne

Hours: M-Sat: 7 AM – 8 PM; Sun: 7 AM to 5 PM

What’s on the Menu? Cinnamon Dulce de Leche Latte, Spiced Brown Chai Latte

You may know Empanadas Cafe by its former name of KK Café, although it’s the same team and owners running it according to the employee we spoke to. This small café, which also has locations in Hoboken and Soho specializes in Argentinian empanadas, pastries, and upscale coffee. We ordered the iced Cinnamon Dulce de Leche Latte. It came ice cold with that signature dulce de leche flavor and topped with ground cinnamon

Une Tasse Café

Location: 1052 Broadway, Bayonne

Hours: M-Thu: 7 AM – 5 PM; F: 7 AM – 6 PM; Sat 8 AM – 6 PM; Sun: 9 AM to 4 PM

What’s on the Menu? Brown Sugar Pop-Tart Latte

This uptown café specializes coffee, sandwiches, wraps and pastries. This coffee shop has an expansive range of caffeinated drinks available to patrons from brewed coffee to cappuccinos to nitro infused cold brew. Their feature fall drink is a Brown Sugar Pop Tart Latte, although they can make any of your favorites into a Brown Sugar Pop Tart version. This special drink uses a proprietary blend of ingredients to perfect that familiar rich warm sweetness you would expect. On our visit, we ordered the iced latte version.

Three Thirds Café

Location: 400 Claremont, Jersey City

Hours: M-Fri: 7 AM – 5 PM; Sat-Sun: Varies, but open by 9 AM with a 5 PM close

What’s on the Menu? Caramel Apple Latte, Pumpkin Spice Latte

This West Side Jersey City café located inside the 3 Acres luxury apartments has had its doors open for a little over a year and offers artisanal espresso drinks in a hip loft-like setting. In addition to coffee, they also offer familiar café compliments such as sandwiches, pastries and grab and go beverages.  Parking was especially easy as the coffee shop is right next to the West Side light rail parking lot which has spaces reserved for 15-minute parking, perfect for a grab and go. We ordered the hot Caramel Apple Latte. The espresso-based drink combines the familiar rich, sweet, and slightly tart taste of a caramel apple with the frothiness of a latte. The heart shaped foam was also a nice touch.

Tree House Coffee Shop

Location: 434A West Side Avenue, Jersey City (there’s also a downtown JC location)

Hours: M-Fri: 7 AM – 5 PM; Sat-Sun: 8 AM – 3 PM

What’s on the Menu? Horchata Latte, Pumpkin Spice Latte

This café appears tiny from the front, but has an expansive picknick area out back for patrons to truly enjoy and sip their crafted espresso concoction. This West Side location is the original, opening its doors in 2019 with a downtown location opening earlier this year. The java shop offers pastries every day of the week as well with Instagram-worthy donuts available on Saturday and Sunday. We ordered the Horchata Latte on our visit. This drink packs a variety of spices and sweetness to bring the essence of fall into your coffee. The specialty brew comes with nutmeg, brown sugar, milk and topped with a cinnamon stick.
